Over the past few hours both Trinidad and Tobago have been experiencing periods of rain and showers, some of which have been moderate to heavy. According to
ODPM (
Office Of Disaster Preparedness and Management) the rainfall activity is due to moisture trailing a Tropical Wave which passed over the southern Caribbean region on Saturday 25th May 2013.
And as such, flooding or just regular gathering of water are ideal breeding conditions for the mosquito. Mosquito eggs are laid in water, which is why the insects are often associated with standing water.
