In this post, you'll see how we carry standardisation of HCl against Sodium Carbonate.
The process used to determine the concentration of a solution with very high accuracy is called standardizing a solution.
Here's the picture of HCl which was contained inside the volumetric flask~
We carried out titration against the sodium carbonate primary standard in order to find out the exact concentration of the HCl.
next, I added in 2 drops of methyl orange indicator to the primary standard before we begin titrating. So this was how it looks like before the start of titration~
During, the titration process, we titrated the solution of sodium carbonate in yellow with the HCl from the burette.
At the end point, a nice orange solution was observed! Yea!!
I also had to be extra careful not to over-titrate the solution.
Did I ever say how much I just love my job!! :))
